Don’t doubt it for a minute

You can rest assured that the John Patrick Shanley fans in town are counting down the curtain for Resurrection Theatre’s 2012 season opening production of Doubt: A Parable. It’s only been done locally once—by B Street, an outstanding show—and frankly, if you play the DVD of the Meryl Streep version too much, it’ll start skipping. It was exciting to hear that the amazing Martha Kight had been cast as Sister Aloysius; gravitas and vulnerability, she’s got. Also frustration, resentment and compassion. But it gets better—Ben Moroski, who was a standout in Resurrection’s recent production of In a Dark Dark House—will be taking the role of Father Flynn, the priest who may or may not have behaved inappropriately with a student. Elizabeth Holzman and Gloria Jones round out the cast, playing Sister James and Mrs. Muller, respectively. Doubt: A Parable is scheduled to open January 12. The rest of the 2012 season—and information about tickets—will be available soon on Resurrection’s website: http://resurrectiontheatre.com.
