Tell your pilgrim to shove it

Our country was founded by Puritans, and those roots run deep. In much of the world, day drinking is as natural as day breathing or day eating. But in the good ol’ USA, it can feel illicit to crack a brew before 4 or 5 p.m., even on a weekend. Yet what could go better with that takeout Corti Brothers meatloaf sandwich or leftover barbecue chicken from the night before? Shake off that guilt: Lagunitas Brewing Company has a new seasonal IPA called DayTime, and it’s 4.65 percent alcohol. Introduced in August, it’s a simple, citrusy dry-hopped beer with a light malt finish. Best of all, it’s getting wide distribution to chains like Safeway and small local markets, so it will be easy to get your hands on a six-pack. So, tell your inner Pilgrim to shove it, and quaff a DayTime while the sun shines.
