Every January, opportunities bloom from every direction on how to be healthier. That’s right, it’s New Year’s resolution season. For those who are vegan-curious on having a healthier self and not allowing the polar bears to go extinct due to human contribution to climate change, there’s the SacTown VegFest on Saturday, January 28, at Sacramento Charter High School at 2315 34th Street. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event—which is admission-free—promises to have speakers and cooking demonstrations for those seeking information about plant-based lifestyles; children’s activities for those who are, well, children; and samples of food for those who want a free snack. As a primer, visit http://tinyurl.com/ucdplantbased for “Everything You EVER Wanted to Know About a Whole Food, Plant-Based Diet” by UC Davis Integrative Medicine’s Rosane Oliveira, which includes “The 5 Biggest Myths About Plant-Based Diets” and tips on how to become a successful and happy herbivore.
