How’s this for concept: Take 20 or so children, ages 7 to 17, who have been shunted off to the kids’ room while the adults celebrate Christmas. Then, when the adults try to push the kids into going caroling, the kids revolt. Whether you look at it as a holiday story for misanthropes or as a metaphor for the political climate in America today, Someone Else’s Home—a one-act play written by Dave Pierini, which is being staged by the Actor’s Workshop through year’s end—looks like it’s good for more than a few laughs. What kid (or former kid) hasn’t bristled at the prospect of getting exiled to another room while the “adults” make merry, right? Someone Else’s Home will be performed at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday through Dec. 31 at the Actor’s Theatre of Sacramento, 1616 Del Paso Blvd. Tickets are $10-$14.
