Thurs., Dec. 27, X

Ace of Spades, 6:30 p.m., $32.50

Even though it didn't solely pave the way for future punk rockers per se, American punk band X still influenced the world of music. After forming in 1977, X released its first LP, Los Angeles, a few years later. Little fun fact: The album was recorded by the Doors' keyboardist, Ray Manzarek—which further explains X's choice to cover “Soul Kitchen.” After a brief hiatus in the mid- to late-'90s, X reunited in early 2000 and currently tours with all original members. Whether you fell in love with “Johny Hit and Run Paulene” or “Los Angeles,” don't miss the chance to hear them both live. 1417 R Street, www.xtheband.com.
