I grew up slurping Otter Pops and staining my tongue neon blue. These days, I’d rather color my lips with blueberries—especially frozen in popsicle form.

Some of the best pops around are from Fat Face, the genius gourmet treats from Jaymes Luu. She’s had a stand at the Davis Farmers Market for a few years and now has opened a Sac branch at the new Bows & Arrows location (1815 19th Street).

Midtown Monthly just hosted its Best Summer Ever Party there and solicited ideas for new popsicle flavors. The winner was a purpley grape/mint/hibiscus concoction. Hopefully Fat Face will feature it on its new menu. I submitted a few ideas that I might have to test myself, including cantaloupe-prosciutto, salty margarita and marionberry with goat yogurt. Some of the other ideas I saw were chili-pepper-almond, jelly-doughnut-peach, and sweet-red-bean burrito!

There’s no limit to the number of things you can freeze and lick, so put those popsicle sticks to work and get chillin’.
