Martha’s heart, eaten

From the author that brought you The George Foreman Next Grilleration G5 Cookbook comes the 350 Best Vegan Recipes (Robert Rose, $24.95)—yes, really. But are Deb Roussou’s indeed the best? It’s going to take a while to try them all, but it looks like a tasty process. In addition to familiar dishes, there’s plenty of inventive ones, like the book’s cover model, a pile of sautéed shredded Brussels sprouts over a crispy golden patty of wild rice. Roussou also includes sections that are wonderful for vegan newbies, listing useful kitchen tools, staple ingredients, menu suggestions, plus recipes from breakfast to cocktails. And the Rustic Open-Faced Peach Pie looks drool-worthy enough to make Martha Stewart eat her heart out (such a nonvegan expression, isn’t it?).
