Sacramento Audubon will hold Christmas Bird Counts again this year. There will be two: one in the Folsom area on Monday, December 26, and the other in the Sacramento area on Saturday, December 31. These counts provide data for scientists researching endangered species, changes in habitats and other ecological matters. Last year, 166 species were spotted, the highest in the count’s history, and one of the highest inland tallies in the nation. Those interested in the Sacramento count should contact Mark Cudney at (916) 987-2422, and those interested in the Folsom count should contact Chris Conard at (916) 203-1610.
