Filmmaker Bob Moricz—confident after the successful sold-out screening of his flick The Midnight of My Life—is about to expose locals to the seedy underbelly of cinema. This Friday at 9 p.m., Moricz will host an underground movie night, where movie fans can catch screenings of rarely seen shorts by directors like David Lynch, Richard Kern, George Kuchar, Maya Deren, Jonathan Morken and, of course, Moricz. Morken, founder of Apprehension Films, will be on hand to discuss his short and twisted flick Sublime Depravity. Before the lights go down, the Mumpwater Foundation will perform its rare breed of music, noise and psychotic behavior—the press release mentioned something about a hefty drag queen stripping and shrieking like an animal. All that for a mere $5! Who could resist? The movie mayhem happens at Luna’s Café, located at 1414 16th Street. Call (916) 441-3931 or visit www.epiphanysink.com for more information.
