Issue: February 18, 2010

Hey everybody,
Do you have Olympics fever? Do you sometimes wish that the Winter Olympics were taking place right in your very own backyard? Well, 50 years ago, the Olympics were held in Squaw Valley, a mere 40 miles or so from Reno. In this week’s feature story, RN&R news editor Dennis Myers talks to some of the folks who were there, including gold medal figure skater Carol Heiss. And, in hard-hitting RN&R fashion, he debunks a few of the commonly held myths about those games. We’ve got a lot of fun action in this issue. The A&C feature is about the wacky sport of slacklining, and in Art of the State, writer Ben Garrido visits a museum exhibition that teaches kids to play with animal poop.
Thanks for reading! If it wasn’t for you, we’d have to take up curling.
Brad Bynum,
RN&R Arts Editor
