A United Technologies/National Journal Congressional Connection Poll—completed just days before the federal government shut down on Sept. 30—asked respondents (Republicans, Democrats and Independents) to rate what they believe are the highest priorities of the Democratic and Republican parties. Here are the results as a percentage of total number of people polled:
