New soap from old

Don’t throw away your soap scraps—turn them into creative new bars of soap

Do you feel guilty every time you throw away that last, barely graspable sliver of soap? Instead of throwing away your soap scraps, save them up and make new soap!

When you have enough soap slivers to make the equivalent of one or more new bars, mince the slivers into small pieces on a cutting board, then place into a Pyrex container and add enough water to cover the bottom of the container. Cover container with plastic wrap and microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval until water is hot and soap has formed a paste. Pour the paste into paper cupcake liners and let cool. Voilà—cool little round bars of new soap!
