Moderation for memory, guys

Excessive drinking takes toll on memories of middle-aged men

If you want to remember your anniversary and have something coherent to say to your grandkids, you might want to take it easy on the sauce. According to a new study published in the journal Neurology, middle-aged men who consume more than 2 1/2 servings of alcohol per day on average experienced a significant decline in memory—up to six years sooner than moderate or light drinkers. In fact, men who consumed two or fewer drinks per day showed no more decline in mental function than nondrinkers. As always, everything in moderation.
