Tips for staying the course with your New Year’s resolution

If you’ve made a fitness-related New Year’s resolution, here are some general tips for sticking to it in 2014:

Talk about it: If you keep your resolution a secret, it’ll be easier to give up, so make your goals known to your family and friends.

Track your progress: By meeting a series of short-term goals, each small success will be encouraging; log your progress to keep how far you’ve come in perspective.

Let it become a habit: It takes about three weeks for an activity to become a habit, and about six months for it to become part of your personality.
