I witness

I saw you from across the parking lot at Raley’s. You looked down and fumbled your hands in your pockets. Instead of passing by, eyes down, as so many do, you turned, smiled and dropped a dollar bill in the Salvation Army collection pot next to me. Part of a Rotary team helping the Salvation Army with holiday season bell ringing, I’ve seen all types. The ones who touch my heart are those who give when it’s clear they don’t have all that much to start with. Parents, instill the gift of giving in your children. It’s wonderful to see the look of joy on the faces of small children putting coins in the red kettle. Isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
