More than 1 billion white Coca-Cola cans will appear in stores this month. Coke is trying to raise awareness of the negative effects of climate change in a new initiative. It chose white to highlight the plight of polar bears, which are used in its ads to promote Coke as a cool and refreshing product. While the act of buying white soda pop cans won’t directly help polar bears, Coke has already donated $2 million to the World Wildlife Fund and will be matching public donations to WWF through March 15, up to $1 million.
