Touch of class

If you’re thinking of taking a cooking class this year, but can’t decide which one, make it to East Bay Restaurant Supply’s Culinary Center. On Saturday, June 14, they’re hosting Diana Kennedy, the doyenne of regional Mexican cooking whose books include The Cuisines of Mexico, Mexican Regional Cooking, and recently, From My Mexican Kitchen: Techniques and Recipes, among others. Kennedy first moved to Mexico more than 50 years ago and now lives in Michoacán. Thanks to her culinary research, she has been awarded the Order of the Aztec Eagle by the Congress of the Republic of Mexico. Seats for her demonstration cooking class, from 1 to 4 p.m., cost $95 and are limited, but if you’re interested in Mexican cooking, it’s worth trying to get in. For more information, e-mail Carolyn Kumpe at carolynk@ebrs.net, or check the Web site at www.eastbayrestaurantsupply.com for a schedule of other upcoming classes.
