Shepherd’s pie school

May is a great month for those who want to try a vegan cooking class at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op. With three vegan classes scheduled, two have already sold out: the Veggie Burger Bash vegan-burger workshop and The Art and Science of Cheesemaking: Cashew Brie. However, as of this writing, there are more than two-dozen seats available in the Vegan Comfort Food Essentials class on Tuesday, May 22. Chef Marina Kercher will lead the class, demonstrating how to make vegan and gluten-free shepherd’s pie, baked spinach artichoke dip, and faux carbonara with creamy cauliflower Alfredo and tempeh bacon. The class begins at 6:30 p.m. and takes place at the Co-op Cooking School & Community Learning Center at 2820 R Street, on the second floor. Tickets cost $49-$55 and are available online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3370381. Oh, and pupils 21 and older get a complimentary glass of wine. It better be vegan wine!
