In the spirits

Dick Ebert is the wine and spirits buyer for Taylor’s Market (2900 Freeport Boulevard). He’s mainly a wine guy, but he keeps a nice collection of liquors in stock for the cocktail crowd. I asked him to tell me about some of them.

“I mostly drink wine, but if I were to have a cocktail, I’d probably have a martini and leave it at that. Hendrick’s Gin ($35) is a pleasant surprise for a high-end gin. People really seem to like it.

“I have a British customer who buys Pimm’s No. 1 Cup ($23) in the summer. He introduced me to Pimm’s and ginger ale, which is a nice combination.

Nocino della Cristina ($30) is a walnut liqueur made in Napa Valley. People aren’t quite sure what to do with it, but they have a nice Web site at www.nocino.com that gives recipes for cocktails.”
