Hot poetry in the park

Instead of gathering in the Sacramento Poetry Center, this week’s Monday-night reading will be held in Fremont Park at 16th and P streets. It’s the “summertime third Monday rule,” a way to combine the outdoors with language during the warm months; from May to September, the readings get the natural urban backdrop. There’s a lot to be said for it, what with Naked Coffee right there to supply the fuel and Hot Italian for dinner after. Featured readers this week are Moira Magneson, Michael Paul and Brigit Truex. They’ll read from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and of course, in case of rain, the whole shebang will head inside to SPC’s digs in the California Stage complex, 1719 25th Street. For more information, check out the calendar on the SPC blog: www.sacpoetrycenter.wordpress.com.
