Come for the play, stay for the chickens!

This may be Beauty and the Beast, but his hair is strictly Cinderella.

This may be Beauty and the Beast, but his hair is strictly Cinderella.

This is as much an endorsement of Fair Oaks Village as it is the Fair Oaks Theatre Festival’s presentation of Beauty and the Beast. The one-hour play offers a feisty heroine, magic and romance in kid-sized proportions. This Saturday only, the shows will be interpreted for the hearing impaired. After the play, be sure to take in the village itself. The shady park, the dragonflies on the river, the smell of nutty tacos at the Sunflower drive-in and the village roosters’ constant crowing make a unique setting for a family outing. The production runs Saturdays at 10 a.m. and noon through July 26. Admission is $3. Performances are held in the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse at California Avenue and Temescal Street.
