You can only inhabit the River City for so long without getting into water sports. With so many rivers and lakes in the area, it’s only a matter of time before someone takes you on a boating trip—and then you’re hooked. If you know you want to have fun on the water, but you’re unsure what floats your boat, the PaddleFest 2002 Canoe and Kayak Demo Day can help you decide. There’s a demo area where you can test-paddle the latest kayaks, canoes and specialty boats from top vendors. Workshops scheduled throughout the event offer tips on boating safety, packing for multi-day canoe trips and putting the power in your paddling stroke. Paddlefest splashes down Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is free, but test-paddling is $10 per person. Nimbus Flats, Lake Natoma. Call 353-1880 for more information.
