The poets and writers from Sacramento State will have their moment onstage—and offer a chance to hear work from new voices—when the Sacramento Poetry Center hosts the Calaveras Station Literary Journal reading. Calaveras Station is supported by Sac State and includes the work of students from all disciplines and majors in an annual publication. Featured readers are Jim Benton, Genelle Chaconas, Shadi Gex, Marcelo Hernandez, Peggy Kincaid, Lee Lee, Joe Montalbo, Jen Palmares Meadows and Jordan Okumura. Trina L. Drotar and Jim Benton are the executive editors for the 2010 edition, and Drotar will be hosting the reading. The reading starts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 20, at the SPC (in the California Stage complex at 25th and R streets). It’s free, but donations are usually requested to support the space; you’ll also be able to buy a copy of Calaveras Station.
