It’s awards time again

Hey, it’s not just the Hollywood elite that kick off the award season this time of year. Why, right here in River City we have our own chance to dress up and honor local theater companies and performers for last year’s works: the Elly Awards, sponsored by the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance, better known as SARTA. The ceremony will be held September 26 at the Crest Theatre, but the nominations are out, and it’s a point of pride to see how many of the shows and performances we raved about here in SN&R are nominated. In fact, if we gave it a “raving Willie,” it’s on the list: Crime & Punishment at KOLT Run Creations; Deathtrap; Almost, Maine and A Streetcar Named Desire at Big Idea Theatre; Dutchman at Celebration Arts Theatre.
