It’s your one and only weekend to catch a concert reading (that’s musical theater’s version of a staged reading) of Sleepaway Camp: The Musical, presented by local cabaret impresario Graham Sobelman’s Graham-a-rama. Yep, it’s based on the 1983 horror cult classic about a rampaging psycho killer at a sleepaway camp in the woods, and it’s got story and book by Robert Hiltzik, who directed the original teen screamer. Who can pass up a chance to see campy singing and have scary, slasher-movie antics described in (no doubt) chilling, gross detail? And what are they gonna do with that curling iron? There are only three shows: Thursday, September 9, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, September 10, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, September 12, at 7 p.m., all in the cozy Geery Theatre, so make reservations. Call (916) 798-6352 or visit the Graham-a-rama website at www.grahamarama.com or Brown Paper Tickets at papertickets.com for reservations or to purchase tickets in advance.
