Beer and bacon

In case the calorie-loaded food options at the California State Fair (read: cheesy bacon bombs, chocolate-covered corn dogs, deep-fried mac 'n' cheese on a stick) aren't enough for you, behold Bacon Fest Sacramento's Beer & Bacon on the Boulevard event. It's the signature event of a self-proclaimed regional BLT Week and offers craft brew, food and music. The people behind Bacon Fest Sacramento are teaming up with Pangaea Two Brews Cafe to throw a block party Saturday, July 20, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Third Avenue and Franklin Boulevard. It will feature special beers (a new IPA by Track 7 Brewing Co.) and food by Tuli Bistro, Mulvaney's Building & Loan, and Grange Restaurant & Bar. Jams will be provided by DJ Shaun Slaughter, DJ Whores and DJ Mike C. Proceeds benefit the Center for Land-Based Learning. (Full disclosure: SN&R co-editor Nick Miller is a co-founder of Bacon Fest Sacramento.) Learn more at www.facebook.com/SacramentoBaconFest.
