Easter comes early this year. We hope you’ve got your bonnet decorated and eggs hard-boiled, because Sacramento’s 2005 Easter festivities are happening well before the day itself. Egg hunts already took place in William Land Park and Belle Cooledge Park last weekend. But don’t despair if you missed out; there are plenty more treats in store this weekend. Baskets at the ready? Then read on!

Sacramento City Councilmen Robbie Waters and Rob Fong are sponsoring a morning Easter celebration on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The hunt begins promptly at 10 a.m. Admission is free at Seymour Park on Gloria Drive, across the street from Bear Flag Elementary School.

Councilwoman Sandy Sheedy continues the tradition with a lunchtime egg hunt at Mama Marks Park, located at 1140 Roanoke Way. A free hot-dog lunch will be served at 1 p.m., with a children’s egg hunt at 2 p.m. A bounce house and face painting will round out the fun. Both of these events are BYOB (bring your own basket). Call (916) 808-3821 for more information.

Relax after the hustle of the hunt with Puppet Art Theater’s Bunny Boot Camp, playing now at Fairytale Town. Admission for this bunny-adventure puppet show is $2, in addition to Fairytale Town’s regular park admission of $4. Showtimes, through April 3, are 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on weekends; and 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on weekdays. Fairytale Town is located at 3901 Land Park Drive. Visit www.fairytaletown.org or call (916) 264-5233 for more information.
