This week, the Sacramento Poetry Center’s reading series offers a chance to hear a couple of real winners—prize winners, that is. Davis poet Dorine Jennette will read from her collection, Urchin to Follow, which won the National Poetry Review Book Prize. Her poems have been published in Puerto del Sol, Ninth Letter Arts & Literary Journal, the Georgia Review and SN&R. Sharing the evening with her is Rob Schlegel. His book, The Lesser Fields, won the 2009 Colorado Prize for Poetry. He’s had poems in the Boston Review, the Colorado Review and Volt, among others. The reading is Monday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Poetry Center in the R25 complex, 1719 25th Street.
