A funny thing is happening

Tapan Trivedi will stand and deliver.

Tapan Trivedi will stand and deliver.

Not so long ago, the only venues in Sacramento that were doling out hearty laughs were Laughs Unlimited and the Punch Line. But that was before local comedian (and SN&R contributing writer) Keith Lowell Jensen teamed up with the folks at Luna’s Café (1414 16th Street) to bring about Funny Peculiar, a comedy showcase that brings “the country’s most unique alt/indy comedians to Sacramento.” This week, the showcase will celebrate funnyman Tapan Trivedi’s birthday. Six years ago, Trivedi moved from India to the United States, where he discovered “blondes, redheads and premarital sex” and, perhaps more importantly, standup comedy. Attend his birthday bash, and you’ll see comedians Cheese, Steve “Drunken Dodgeball” Thoreson, Shomari and Steve Ferris. Plus, musical guest Broken Home will perform. Tickets for this Friday’s bash are $10. Call (916) 470-9393 or visit www.indycomedy.com for more information.
