Ronald’s Joe goes green

In a bid to catch the giant environmental wave that’s flooding the corporate world, McDonald’s Australia announced last week that it will begin serving eco-friendly coffee.

At its 484 McCafes, the company has already switched to a variety of beans grown in accordance with the highest environmental standards, reported The Sydney Morning Herald. By spring, Down Under’s fast-food giant expects to carry exclusively green beans at all of its restaurants and drive-ins.

Rainforest Alliance, a New York-based environmental organization, is lending its green frog label to the coffee. Catriona Noble, CEO of McDonald’s Australia, said she’d considered going with a fair-trade campaign but settled on the green theme because it encompasses help for the planet and workers.
