Wetlands again

The Sacramento River National Wildlife Refuge has resulted from the rehabilitation of some 1,800 acres of floodplains, forests, wetlands, grasslands and aquatic habitat along the river from Red Bluff to Colusa. On Saturday, Oct. 15 the 111-acre Ord Bend Unit off Old Ferry Road in Glenn County was opened to the public. Allowed uses are fishing, wildlife observation, photography, interpretation and environmental education. Day use only is allowed from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Pets must be kept on leashes. There is no camping, hunting, fires or firearms allowed and access is free. For more information call (530) 934-2801.
