Moving past the political season

Tips for post-election blues

If you’re feeling depressed following the presidential election, you aren’t alone. Plenty of people across the country feel sad, bewildered, angry and alienated. Here are some ways to help you move forward positively:

Remember what we all have in common: Our basic humanity is more important than individual beliefs.

Focus on your values: Identify what you can do to better your own community and help the people you love.

Don’t lash out: People tend to reciprocate the way they’re treated. If you approach someone resentfully, they’ll almost certainly return the favor.

Seek positive people: Distance yourself from negative water-cooler talk and spend time with the friends and family members who ground you.
