KZFR hires new GM

Rick Anderson has held the post for seven months—now it’s for real

Rick Anderson (pictured) has served as interim general manager of community radio station KZFR for seven months. After a long search, the board of directors of Golden Valley Community Broadcasters Inc. voted unanimously to hire him permanently.

“I look forward to helping facilitate the smooth operation of KZFR and continue our tradition of providing community access to the people’s airwaves,” Anderson said in a press release.

Anderson (not to be confused with the former Chico school board member with the same name) is no radio newbie. In fact, he has decades of experience, working on both coasts. In August 2008, he was hired by KZFR as operations manager and a few months later took the reins as interim GM.

The board is optimistic about Anderson’s future with the station. In the release, Chairman Dan Carter was quoted saying, “Rick brings the energy and initiative to help us continue to achieve our long-term vision for KZFR as a diverse alternative voice on the radio dial, a strong voice of, for and by the north valley and foothill community.”
