Chico firm earns props

A Chico-based landscape architecture firm earned a national award for its work at a new local park.

MA Land Image Landscape Architects received the Excellence in Irrigation Honor Award for its irrigation system at DeGarmo Community Park, a 36-acre site in north Chico with large, open turf areas for sports and other recreation. LI irrigation manager Paige Gimbal designed and managed the project.

The honor came from the American Society of Irrigation Consultants, which recognized the firm’s innovative design for a number of reasons, including its water-conservation principles. ASIC awards are judged by professors of irrigation science at Cal Poly Pomona. Recipients are chosen based on the project’s functionalism, environmental responsibility and relevance.
