Y’know, we usually don’t tout shows whose ducat prices are listed at $66 and $32.50; you can find plenty of entertainment in this burg for much less. For $66, you can pay the door at a club where a good local band is playing, buy a decent dinner beforehand and even have enough left over for a few fancy cocktails. But this is Willie Nelson, who’s pretty much godhead among those of us who revere Texas country music. He’s playing Raley Field in West Sacramento at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11, with a blues-tinged band that may not feature Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow or Bonnie Raitt (who appear on his just-released Lost Highway album The Great Divide), but that does include guitarist Jimmie Vaughan (Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stevie Ray’s brother). Ergo, weather permitting, this sounds like a can’t-miss affair. Hey, Willie may even cover that masterpiece the late Mickey Newbury penned for Kenny Rogers, “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In),” which appears on his new CD.
