Four woman at a Parisian beauty boutique chat, date, mate and give numerous facials in this shallow story about aging and beauty being only skin deep. Nathalie Baye (An Affair of Love) stars as a 40-ish beautician who accidentally disfigured her former boyfriend (Jacques Bonnaffe) and now hides from love among a series of sexual “flings.” Supporting characters in this tenderness-challenged romantic comedy include a young, naïve brunette (Audrey Tautou) who visits the home of an elderly, suave male client and a stalking suitor (Samuel Le Bihan). The film, which won several Cesar (the French Oscar) awards including best picture, is written and directed by Tonie Marshall.
