As of 2011, less than 35 percent of households and less than 10 percent of businesses in the United States recycle, according to Recycle Across America and the Environmental Protection Agency. Chew on those figures while swallowing the work on display in The Cardboard Show, including figurative sculptures by Garr Ugalde, with strips of the utilitarian brown-paper product weaved into feminine forms, elegantly poetic in their curving gestures and rough edges. Other artists in this group show that reincarnate cardboard into artistic life include Ron Peetz, Cactus Pete, Julia Stagg, Sue Torngren and Roy Tatman.
