Brothers Scott and Seth Avett make music that, loosely defined, can be called alternative country. What that label misses, however, are the countless nuances and influences that seep into the crevices of their songs. From bluegrass and folk to rock and pop, the Avett Brothers craft songs that sweep across a spectrum of sound and emotion—often in a single stanza.
