Bay Area filmmaker Tony Bui returned to his Vietnamese roots to shoot this low-key, meandering drama. Several characters briefly cross paths in Saigon as their lives change and the city’s past rubs shoulders with the present. A bicycle taxi driver becomes emotionally attached to a hooker. An American who fought in the Vietnam War searches for a daughter he has never met. A street kid tries to find his stolen case of tourist trinkets. And a woman flower vendor sings her way into the home of a hermit-like Buddhist master at a lotus pond temple. The cast of this delicately woven tapestry includes Don Duong, Nguyen Ngoc Hiep, Tran Manh and Harvey Keitel.
