The Devil Inside

Rated 1.0

A young woman (Fernanda Andrade) travels to Italy where her mother is in an asylum for the criminally insane, seeking to learn the truth about what happened back in 1989, when Mom (Suzan Crowley) slaughtered two priests and a nun who were trying to perform an exorcism on her. Tagging along is a documentary filmmaker (Ionut Grama), who sets up cameras everywhere. Call it The Blair Exorcist Project; this time director William Brent Bell and co-writer Matthew Peterman use the fake-documentary premise simply as an excuse for lousy camera work and cheap, ugly photography. The writing and acting are nothing to write home about, either. Bell and Peterman have no originality, they just trot out the usual hack exorcism schtick, enough to justify the hilarious credit line “Contortionist Double: Pixie Le Knot.”
