Tea-bag the flu

Hina’s Tea

2319 K St.

Hina Soni runs the oasis called Hina’s Tea (2319 K Street), now open three years. I asked her how to treat a cold with tea.

“We always recommend the white and green as the highest in antioxidants. I can’t remember the last time I had a cold or the flu, because I drink so much tea. We also have a number of different herbal teas. Cold Chaser has elder flowers, linden blossoms and thyme, which are all good for congestion and promoting perspiration.

“The other tea that is very very popular at this time of year is On the Waterfront. It’s got peppermint, spearmint, ginger root and rooibus. It’s just fabulous with a drop of honey and helps to clear your sinuses.

“When I’m feeling a little under the weather myself, I drink an herbal tea called Good Night. It has valerian root, which helps you to sleep, but keeps you from feeling very groggy the next day.”
