Sweet idealism and pies

There are not enough cupcakes, pies and brownies in the world—for vegans, that is. The Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale on Saturday, June 13, comes to the rescue to satiate the sweet tooth of plant eaters while also raising funds for Youth Empowered Action Camp—which, for short, is enthusiastically called YEA Camp. It's a sweet pairing, actually, since many people choose veganism as a form of delicious activism, and young people are often inclined to be idealistic, and at the camp, teenagers learn how to turn their idealism into action. So, withdraw a handful of cash from the ATM for an armful of treats made by about a dozen local bakeries—Baagan and Shine included—from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tower Bridge Bistro inside the Embassy Suites Sacramento (100 Capitol Mall), and grab a cupcake or two or four. Do it for the children, right?
