Subscribe and play

Software giant Sony revealed at this year's Electronic Gaming Expo that it will be the first such company to offer à la carte cable channels in the United States through its cloud-based Playstation Vue service starting this month. Unfortunately, the initial offerings are meager, with the few options including Machinima, Showtime and Fox Soccer channels available for subscription. The basic “Access” tier starts at $49.99 a month and options go up to $69.99. Regionally, Playstation Vue is currently only available in San Francisco but expect more cities to roll out eventually. www.playstationnetwork.com/vue.
