Storytelling jukebox

“One of the image problems storytelling has is the idea that it’s just for kids,” said Elizabeth Gibson. “But I’ve thrilled adults, too.” Gibson has a new take on the age-old art form: her own custom-made storytelling jukebox. You pick ’em; she’ll tell ’em. With a mini-grant from the Phantom Galleries, and space donated by New Faces Development, Gibson invites you to come hear what’s on the box, for free, this Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 1825 Del Paso Boulevard. Her yarns (humor, mystery, urban legend—you name it) range in length from five to 15 minutes, and have been known to pack small halls, from boardrooms to recess rooms. Although she’s been in the tale-telling business for 15 years, the jukebox is brand-new. “Actually, I’ve never tried this before,” she said. “I don’t know any storyteller that has tried this. But I know my stories.”
