It’s fun to swing at the Y-W-C-A

Some of us were born with two left feet. Play us some music, put us on a dance floor and watch as we inevitably end up making asses out of ourselves. Afraid to fail, we refrain from taking lessons. Instead, we choose to live vicariously through movies like Swing Kids, in which dancers jitterbug across the floor with the greatest of ease. Still, there comes a time when our fear is trounced by an intense desire to boogie, and that’s where Midtown Stomp can help. This Friday, the club will host lessons (for those with all types of feet), followed by an evening of swing dancing. Lessons will be held from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Then, the Vivian Lee Quintet will take the stage, providing the tunes for the remainder of the evening. The event will be held at the YWCA, located at 1122 17th Street. Tickets are $10. Call (916) 719-8607 or visit www.midtownstomp.com for more information.
