Old Sacramento is the place to be this season. Opening this Saturday are the historic district’s seasonal train rides and underground tours. To help celebrate, the California State Railroad Museum is holding a Family Fun Day. The museum will be filled with family-friendly activities based on its current exhibition, Pick Me! Fruit Crate Art & the California Dream, free with museum admission.

Also kicking off its 28th year is the Sacramento Southern Railroad, the museum’s weekend steam-train excursions. Starting Saturday, trains depart hourly from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., continuing every Saturday and Sunday through September. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6-17 and $15 for first-class.
