Snakes alive

“We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert.” If those words man anything to you, it’s likely the richly hued reptilian visions of local artist John Stuart Berger will spur you to the car-rental counter to inquire on the availability of a white Caddie convertible. Berger is showing at two different venues this month. This Friday and Saturday (September 20 and 21), go to Toyroom Gallery, in the alley of 24th St., directly behind 2419 2nd Ave. It opens at 6:30 p.m. and stays open “late.” A different side of Berger is on display at Solomon Dubnick Gallery, 2131 Northrop Ave. That exhibit will be up through September 28. That gallery is also showing works by Joel Reber and Sheldon Greenberg.
