She’s got smarts

You go, girl!

You go, girl!

Girls are smart. Marie Curie proved it—so did Jane Goodall and Mary Somerville. Sacramento State hopes to plant the seed of science in the minds of middle-school-aged girls during the Expanding Your Horizons conference on Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on the university campus. Girls from sixth to eighth grade will participate in programs that encourage scientific study, including hands-on workshops about solar power, biofuel and hydropower. There also will be workshops for parents about motivating children to pursue science and math, and long-term strategies for college planning. Registration is $20 and includes a lunch.
