Sat., July 27, Be Calm Honcho

Sophia's Thai Kitchen, 9:30 p.m., $5

San Francisco band Be Calm Honcho is young—both in terms of time spent on the scene and its general aesthetic, and based off of its first single, “What Have We Made,” it exhibits promise. Singer Shannon Harney's vocals evoke a quality reminiscent of Lisa Hannigan—dreamy and toothsome, but with occasional, intentional rawness—and minimal but warm guitar and drums are a libation that fortifies the main course. The band played the Davis Music Fest last month, the Whole Earth Festival in May and will now play Sophia's; Davis apparently likes the three-piece, which describes itself as “pocketfulls and truckloads of fancy influence and folly energy.” 129 E Street, Suite E in Davis; www.becalmhoncho.com.
