Porn Star: The Legend of Ron Jeremy

Rated 3.0 Director Scott J. Gill traces the life and career (“legend” is perhaps an overstatement) of Ron Jeremy—a short, pudgy, homely, self-described “schlub” who parlayed one kind of staying power into another, appearing in (as nearly as he can recall) some 1,600 porn movies over 27 years. Gill touches briefly on the pathos of Jeremy’s life—his loneliness, his forlorn hope for a serious career as an actor, his dolorous attempts at stand-up comedy—before returning to shots of drooling 20-something males proclaiming Jeremy “da king” and co-stars with names like Seymore Butts singing his praises. Gill also devotes a sizable chunk of his 80-minute running time to scenes from Jeremy’s films—for those in the audience who might still be a little unclear on exactly what a porn star does for a living.
